01.introduction
founded in 1933, south china normal university (scnu) is a key comprehensive university jointly supported by guangdong province and china’s ministry of education. it is a member of china’s “double first-class” university project and “project 211”, and is listed as a provincial high-level university. scnu has four campuses in three cities: guangzhou, foshan, and shanwei, covering a total area of over 355 hectares. the university comprises four faculties, 35 schools, and 9 research institutes and centers.

02.categories of talents
i. outstanding scholars
1）requirements
applicants should have made substantial fundamental and original scientific contributions, pioneered research, and achieved significant theoretical breakthroughs in their disciplines. those with exceptional original scientific achievements, outstanding teaching and research performance, and international academic leadership are also preferred. the age limit is 55 in principle.
2）remuneration and benefits
1. position: professor, tenured
2. remuneration: we offer attractive salary packages, negotiable based on individual qualifications and needs.
3. research funding: research start-up funds will be negotiated according to actual needs.
4. housing support: we will provide housing allowances (subject to negotiation) and housing assistance, including support for applying for a temporary apartment.
5. modern facilities: we guarantee a good office environment and first-class laboratory space.
6. team building support: assist in the construction of scientific research team, provide sufficient doctoral and postdoctoral positions.
7. children’s schooling: children will gain admission to the first-class and prestigious kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools affiliated with scnu. the kindergarten and primary school are situated right on the university campus, and the secondary school is in close proximity to it.

ii. leading scholars
1）requirements
applicants should be professors, associate professors, or equivalent distinguished scholars at research institutions or universities in china or abroad. candidates must align with scnu’s key discipline plans, showing exceptional innovation, academic potential, and international leadership. the age limit is 50 in principle.
2）remuneration and benefits
1. position: professor, tenured

iii. top young scholars
1）requirements
applicants should have peer-recognized original scientific research achievements and the potential to secure national talent grants. for natural science disciplines, applicants should generally be no older than 40, and for arts, philosophy, humanities, and social science disciplines, the age limit is 45.
2）remuneration and benefits
1. position: priority appointment as a tenured professor.
2. remuneration: (1) the base annual salary of 420,000 rmb-720,000 rmb, (2) the high-level representative achievements beyond the appointment of the task will be rewarded separately; (3) college allowance will be calculated separately.
3. research funding: start-up funds are negotiable based on actual needs, up to a maximum of 2 million rmb. relevant colleges will provide corresponding scientific research infrastructure support according to the actual situation.
4. housing support: we provide a housing allowance of up to 2 million rmb before tax and assistance in applying for a temporary apartment to meet your transitional housing needs.
5. modern facilities: we guarantee a good office environment and first-class laboratory space.
6. children’s schooling: children will gain admission to the first-class and prestigious kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools affiliated with scnu. the kindergarten and primary school are situated right on the university campus, and the secondary school is in close proximity to it.

8. scnu cordially invites global talents to apply for the national natural science foundation of china’s young scientist fund (overseas) through our university. selected candidates will enjoy top youth scholar remuneration and benefits, in addition to national and guangdong provincial support. they will also receive specific team-building support, including two young talent research assistants annually for three years, recognition as a doctoral supervisor, and guaranteed phd student quotas.
iv. class i young scholars
1）requirements
typically, applicants should not exceed 35 years of age, possess a strong educational background and a proven track record in original scientific research, and hold a doctoral degree.
2）remuneration and benefits
1. position: special appointed research fellow, tenure-track.
2. remuneration: (1) a basic annual salary of 370,000 rmb; (2) separate rewards for high - level representative achievements beyond task appointments; (3) college allowances calculated separately.
3. housing support: we offer either a housing subsidy of 24,000 rmb per year or assistance in applying for a temporary apartment to meet your transitional housing needs.
4. children's schooling: children will gain admission to the first-class and prestigious kindergartens and primary schools affiliated with scnu. the kindergarten and primary school are situated right on the university campus.
5. academic environment: enjoy access to scnu’s cutting-edge research platforms, vibrant academic community, and open research atmosphere.
v. class ii young scholars
1）requirements
applicants should generally be no older than 32 and hold a doctoral degree. they should have a strong academic background, the potential for academic growth, and a proven track record in scientific research.
2）remuneration and benefits
1. position: special appointed associate research fellow, tenure-track.
2. remuneration: (1) a basic annual salary of 320,000 rmb; (2) separate rewards for high - level representative achievements beyond task appointments; (3) college allowances calculated separately.
3. housing support: we offer a yearly rental subsidy of 24,000 rmb or provide postdoctoral apartment.
4. children's schooling: children will gain admission to the first-class and prestigious kindergartens and primary schools affiliated with scnu. the kindergarten and primary school are situated right on the university campus.
5. academic environment: enjoy access to scnu’s cutting-edge research platforms, vibrant academic community, and open research atmosphere.
vi. postdoctoral researchers
1）requirements
applicants should generally be no older than 32 and hold a doctoral degree. they are also expected to have a strong academic background, along with notable scientific achievements and growth potential.
3）remuneration and benefits
1. position: special appointed associate research fellow, two appointments (with the first appointment two years), tenure-track.
2. remuneration: (1) a basic annual salary of 300,000 rmb, among which the postdoctoral co-supervisor will provide not less than 30,000 rmb/year; (2) separate rewards for high - level representative achievements beyond task appointments; (3) college allowances calculated separately.
3. housing support: postdoctoral apartment will be provided.
4. academic environment: enjoy access to scnu’s cutting-edge research platforms, vibrant academic community, and open research atmosphere.
03.other support
1. assist in applying for provincial and municipal high-level talent programs.
2. support in applying for local talent apartments.
3. enjoy personal income tax preferential policies in the guangdong-hong kong-macao greater bay area. for talents meeting relevant conditions, the government provides financial subsidies for the portion of personal income tax paid in guangzhou exceeding 15% of taxable income, exempt from personal income tax.
4. assist in applying for the guangdong talent card, enabling access to 14 public services for talents, such as settlement, children's enrollment, and social insurance, and priority facilitation services in immigration, medical care, transport, loans, and children's enrollment.
if the above government support policies are adjusted, they will be implemented according to the corresponding regulations.
